General Request Management Questions:
Q: What is Request Management?
Request Management is an approach to consistently manage the service activities (Requests) within a team, department, or company. It is a method of taking the "work" out of management and status reporting by automating manual activities that don't add value to your end-product or service.

Q: Why do I need a Request Management application?
Managing activity across one or more locations is increasingly difficult as resources are spread thin in these days of cutting costs. A request management application cuts down on the time required to “get the work done”. This is extremely valuable with employees balancing a multitude of priorities.

Q. If I’m already managing my requests on spreadsheets or database applications, why would I need your product?
Data on spreadsheets and database applications is trapped while the end-user is working on the application. A web-based solution that allows multiple users to access and manage their data is the only way to actually save time with a request management application. Custom applications require someone to manage them and make sure they are accurate. The training and help files for these applications is difficult to find or non-existent.

Q. What is the rightTRAX Request Process?
A typical IT example is as follows: A request is entered into the Request Manager. Once approved, Work Orders are assigned to resolve the request. After the Work Order has been completed, a resolution is created which will initiate a migration if the task is configured to need a transport in IT. The tester will then make sure the change is acceptable. Once the tester signs off on the process, the request goes before the change control approvers for migration into production.

Q. How will I know what I am supposed to work on?
rightTRAX Request Manager has a user task screen that is customized for each user. Depending on the role, users will see requests that need approval, Managers will see Work Orders that need to be assigned, while developers will see approved Work Orders that need to be completed. You can also cross-reference the report for other users.

Q. Can business users see request reports?
All reports are viewable through the web interface, and can be downloaded into Excel. Security can be implemented to restrict some management reports as necessary.

Q. Will rightTRAX Request Manager solve all of my Request Management issues?
rTRM is just a tool to get you where you want to go. You need to have business processes in place for any methodology or system to be effective.
